Hailey Magee has always believed that storytelling through music is a powerful tool to build community, change lives, heal, and grow. An inspired visionary and tireless community-builder, Magee has spent her career enlivening Boston’s music scene and has single-handedly built a pathway for emerging artists to thrive and succeed in New England. She is the founder and owner of Talisman Music Group, the first and only career coaching group explicitly for emerging musicians.
Magee believes that a strong web of local connections is critical for artists’ burgeoning music careers. Eager to help artists connect in Boston's music scene, she founded EBASS (Emerging Boston Area Singer-Songwriters) in November 2014 to provide a space for emerging artists to connect and collaborate. EBASS has become a community of over 900 artists that has hosted over 40 shows, workshops, meet-ups, and discussions. EBASS’ work has been highlighted in Sound of Boston, The Daily Free Press, Red Line Roots, WBUR The ARTery, and Allston Pudding, and continues to be recognized as the go-to resource for emerging artists in Boston’s music community.
In April 2016, Magee took the skills and networks she had developed while coordinating EBASS and channeled them into the founding of Talisman Music Group, a career coaching group that elevates homegrown musicians to their maximum potential by working with them to build a powerful foundation of support in New England. Talisman Music Group’s success has inspired a flood of opportunities for Magee to share her work with eager music-makers and self-starters across New England. Magee has shared best practices with audiences statewide, appearing as a special guest on Evolvement Radio, Let’s Put It Off, Mike on the Mic WMFO 91.5, Almost Famous 95.9 WATD and more. In November 2016, Magee was nominated as a finalist for the City of Boston’s SPARK Impact Award for her work “raising the profile of local musicians and and uniting Boston’s singer-songwriter community to empower other worthy local causes,” and in April 2017, Magee was a featured speaker at Boston GLOW’s Not A Barbie: Career and Empowerment Conference as part of the panel "Lady Bosses: A Panel of Female Founders and CEOs."
In addition to her work coordinating Talisman Music Group and EBASS, Magee is involved with a selection of organizations dedicated to enhancing Boston’s music scene. She volunteers with the Women In Music Boston Chapter and has also volunteered with Girls Rock Campaign Boston, ArtWeek, Make Music Boston, and the House of Blues Music Forward Foundation. Committed to helping all people share their stories and create deeply rewarding livelihoods, Magee plans to continue serving her community by coaching and creating spaces for creatives to connect.
